2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1500 grams crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup red wine
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon red chili flakes
1 tablespoon sugar
salt and pepper to taste
Cook onions, peppers and mushrooms until they are soft and have released their liquid. Add garlic. Add the remaining ingredients and cook on medium low for at least an hour. The sauce should be thick.
