Filling:
450 g. ground beef
1 cup diced onions
2 cloves garlic
225 g. tomato sauce
4 tablespoons parsley
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp pepper
¼ tsp ginger
Bread:
2 tablespoons Crisco or lard
2 cups flour
1 tablespoons baking powder
¾ teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk around 20 degrees
To make filling, in a skillet on medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain and discard fat and dd onions to meat and cook until soft and clear. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Now add the tomato sauce, parsley, Parmesan cheese, cinnamon, ginger and salt and pepper to taste. Continue to cook uncovered for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
To make bread, in a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut shortening into flour mixture until you have pea size pieces. Add milk. Knead dough. After kneading, Form into 6 equal sized balls and let the dough rest for 10 minutes. Pat or roll into flat rounds and deep fry until golden. Top the fry bread with filling mixture. Sprinkle with additional parmesan and chopped parsley.
